AWS Cloud Partner: How to Choose the Right One for You

Written by Steve Rastall (Founder & CEO) | 27-Oct-2022 09:37:00

When it comes to choosing an AWS cloud partner, there are a lot of factors to consider. Not all providers are created equal, and each has its strengths and weaknesses. The right provider for you will depend on your specific needs and requirements i.e. if you need software or services like a migration. In this blog post, we will discuss the different things you need to consider when choosing an AWS cloud partner, as well as some of the interesting fast-growing providers in the industry.

AWS has a vast partner ecosystem spanning the globe. As an AWS Cloud Partner, you will have access to resources and support to help you grow your business and succeed in the cloud. You will also be able to connect with other like-minded AWS-centric companies to maximize the platform. You might want more than one as many specialize.

How hard is it to be a partner?

At the lower end - ballpark, 2 or 3 techies that pass certification exams, some case studies for AWS, and a £2k fee to Amazon. That is why the AWS partner badge by itself is not a guarantee of competence.

What types of AWS partners are there?

AWS Cloud Partners are organizations that have been trained and certified by AWS to provide services and support on the AWS platform. AWS Cloud Partners come in three main types:

  • Consulting Partners - experts in cloud computing and can help you plan, deploy and optimize your AWS cloud solution
  • Technology Partners - provide software and hardware solutions that are optimized for the AWS cloud
  • Reseller Partners - sell and support AWS products and services

Regardless of which type of partner you choose, you can be confident that you’re getting expert help with your AWS cloud solution.

If you're looking for a powerful and easy-to-use cloud management solution, look no further than CloudOps. The software provides all the tools you need to centrally manage your AWS environment, including tools for provisioning, monitoring, and auditing.

With CloudOps, you can be confident that your AWS infrastructure is well-organized and running smoothly. It is the software rather than people that pass exams but they might have no real-world experience. AWS suggests that cloud management software de-risks the ongoing management and takes the partner lottery away.

Any business looking to partner with an AWS Cloud partner should consider a few key factors before signing on the dotted line.

First and foremost, it's important to verify that the potential partner is indeed an AWS Cloud Partner. This can be easily checked on the AWS Partner Network website.

Once that's been verified, it's important to inquire about the partner's specific experience and expertise with AWS Cloud and exam certifications. Also, the company might be certified, but the consultant assigned might not be certified via the exams, etc.

After all, not all partners are created equal, and some will have more experience and expertise than others. Finally, be sure to ask about pricing and terms of service. Once these factors have been considered, it will be much easier to choose the right AWS Cloud partner or get the software to just manage your AWS.
