Evaluating Your Rackspace Contract Renewal: Options Abound as Problems Persist

Is your Rackspace Technology contract coming up for renewal?

If so, you'll want to evaluate your options carefully. Rackspace is facing some serious problems right now, and they're not going away anytime soon. Falling share prices, offshoring support, and increasing third-party costs are just a few of the issues Rackspace is currently dealing with. Unless these problems are addressed, it's unlikely that Rackspace will be able to maintain its position as one of the top cloud providers.

AWS & Azure Cloud support impact

In recent years, Rackspace has outsourced an increasing number of support roles to third-party providers. As well as this, they have had several rounds of redundancies year after year. This has led to longer wait times for customers and a decline in the quality of support. As a result, many customers have decided to switch just their cloud support or their cloud infrastructure as well.

The negative impact of offshoring Rackspace support has been well-documented, but with the problems that Rackspace is facing as a business, this almost seems unavoidable. For more background on this read the article 'Rackspace Technology: Deep in busted IPO territory' on Seeking Alpha.

Time to take action

Fortunately, there are plenty of other cloud providers & cloud support providers to choose from. Amazon Web Services & Microsoft Azure are both viable alternatives to Rackspace. So if you're not happy with the direction Rackspace is heading, don't feel like you have to stay with them. There are plenty of other options out there.
